Vacation Chapter 4

Dan arrived back at the hotel and went back to her room and called for room service. Dan was tempted to call the Frenchman but realized that she did not have the other’s number. ‘Maybe I am worried for nothing.’ She thought.

“No, I know something is wrong. I can feel it in my gut.” Dan says finishing her meal. “That is it! I’m going to worry myself to death.” Standing up, she went to go put on her shoes and grab her purse as she went her hotel room.  After she grabbed her things, she headed out of the hotel.

She hailed a cab before directing him to the location in which Francis had made her get into the car. When she arrived, she paid the cab before she began to look around for the man but so far she had not even found a trace of the man.

“Where did he go?” Dan asked when she felt someone staring at her from behind. Turning around, she saw a shadow of a man duck behind a building. Clutching her purse strap, she began to walk back towards the main street.

Slowly picking up her pace but not enough to arouse suspicion. When a someone called out to her, looking back she saw a man with a baseball cap covering his eyes as he smiled as he turned and began to jog towards her.

“I’m sorry. I’m in a hurry.” Dan tells the other before trying to run away from the man but he caught her arm.

“Why are you in such a rush. I only wanted to ask you a question.” The man said.

“No, really I need to go.” Dan says struggling to get the man to let go of her arm. “Please let go.”

The man grew angrier before tightening his grip on Dan’s hand. “Why are you struggling; I just wanted to ask you a question.”

Dan grew worried before elbowing the other in his stomach, sending him stumbling back. Not waiting a second later, Dan began to sprint her way back to the main road. When making it to the main road, she ducked inside a nearby cafe.

She panted as she took a seat near the cash register and away from the windows and the front door. I need to get back to the hotel. Glancing down at her phone, she saw that she had received a text from Francis.

From Francis:
Where are you?
This is not funny Dan, where did you go?
Dan, please be okay.
Alright, stay indoors, I’m about to go looking for you.

Picking up her phone, she typed a response, telling Francis where she was. She waited 15 minutes before the door opened and Francis came rushing over to her side, trying to see any noticeable bruises. When he did not find any, he pulled her into a hug.

“Why are you so far away from the hotel?” Francis asked. “What are doing?”

“I thought something bad was going to happen to you so I went to look for you.” Dan says as tears streaming down her face before clinging close to Francis.
