Anne Marie Part 2

Anne Marie was at her mother side placing the ripe Golden Apples on their stand. Somehow some way she would have to find a way to leave here mother and sign up for the grape crushing contest for tomorrow during the second day of the Harvest Festival.

She had already talked it over with her dad who was over signing old Two-Tons up for the animal contest. Rosa and her mother where setting up there little clothing boutique. On the far right was where the vegetables were being sold.

"Mother, do you think it would be alright if I go say hello to Rosa?" Anne Marie asked her mother as she placed the last apple on the case. Susan looked at her daughter before nodding her head.

"You may go but please go by Miss Jenkins place and pick up some for tonight's offerings." Susan told her daughter.

"Alright mother." Anne Marie said before she got up and went to go buy some corn for offering for tonight before she went over to Rosa and Rosa's mom Laura.

"Hello Rosa." Anne Marie said as she walked up to the two as they finished setting up there booth.

"Hello Anne Marie." Mrs. Goodwill said giving Anna Marie a warm smile. "Are you and your mom ready for the festival?"

"Yes Ma'am me and my mother has just finished setting up or booth." Anne told her as she returned the smile.

"I see you still refuse to wear shoes." Mrs. Goodwill said as she noticed Anne Marie bare feet, Anne Marie smiled sheepishly as she blushed.

"Mother, will It be okay if me and Anne go around looking at the festival grounds?" Rosa asked politely.

"Of course you may, but be back before noon so we can help your father." Mrs. Goodwill said.

Rosa's father was the mayor of there fair town. He was always busy but during each ceremony of festival Rosa father would make a statement with Rosa and his wife by his side and they would answer any question that the citizens may have.

"Goodbye Mrs. Goodwill." Anne said as she and Rosa walked off.

Once they were far enough from the booth Rosa turned to Anne and asked, "How are you going to sign up for the contest?"

"Easy in a couple of minutes everyone will be gathered in town square to here your father speech during that time it leaves me time to sign my name down on the list." Anne Marie says determined.

Rosa laughed but nodded her head. "Well until then lets go see what everyone is selling this year." Rosa said.

They began to walk around the saw that Johnny-Cake had won the pie eating contest as well beat his last year record of 12 pies, this year he had eaten fifteen. The children were bobbing apples but not one of them had successful grabbed a single apple.

"Anne Marie, can you help us we can't get a single apple." Mary said as she looked at Anne sadly.

"Of course I will." Anne said bending down to Mary height and gently petted her head before she went over to the barrel and took her position and dunked her head under the water.

Anne Marie waited for eyes to adjust to the water before she saw a big ripe red apple near and positioned herself to bite the apple. When it was successfully in her mouth she pulled her head out of the barrel to show the kids the big red apple.

Anne Marie shook her wet hair before lifting to take the apple out of her mouth. "The trick is to find one apple you really want and to take a big bite and pull up." Anne Marie told them as all the kids looked at her shocked as Rosa looked amused.

Anne Marie walked back over to her best friend and smiled. "Come on lets go." She said before they continued to walk around the festival ground.

"I have to be heading back soon Anne Marie, So I wish you luck on getting your name on that list, even thought I think this is a mistake." Rosa said.

"Did you say something Countess?" Anne Marie asked as she was not paying attention to a word she was saying.

Rosa sighed, "See this is my point. I will see you later Anne Marie." She said before she turned and walked away heading to the stage.

Anne Marie waited for the perfect moment when everyone was enthralled by Rosa's father's speech that she made her way over to sign in sheet for the grape crushing contest. Once she sighed her name she felt a shadow looming over her. When she looked back she saw Billy-Bob staring down at her.

"Will you stop looming over me you big oaf." Anne Marie said glaring at Billy-Bob.

Billy-Bob Glared at her as he scoffed slightly. "I don't even know why your entering your not even a competition."

"In case you have forgotten you challenged me and I never back down from a challenge." Anne Marie said before she moved from around Bily-Bob to rejoin her father and her mother who was listening to the speech.

"Where have you been?" Susan asked her daughter.

"I wanted to drop of the offering to the church for the night." Anne Marie said which was the half truth she had dropped of the offering as soon as she had gotten it from Miss Jenkins.
